What Run The Runways means to me
Andrew Nash on Gatwick Runway 26
This is me, April 2020 on Gatwick’s (world’s busiest single runway), posing for a photo with all the time in the world, probably single figure flights that day, anxiously not understanding what was happening to me, my colleagues, friends and family at that time, and what the future held for us all in aviation, that runway had become a great friend to me in the years prior to 2020, I walked it at night most weeks, I’d inspected it and me and my team had carried out every repair, I felt like I knew every inch, it was my Runway.
In the early days of Aviation Action I reached out for help and advice, fairly simple stuff, and reassuring advice was given that helped settle my overthinking mind, so, thank you Aviation Action
I have done every Run the Runways, encouraging others to get involved, it’s easy to forget those early days of COVID and the effects on the aviation family, this year is no different, I’m here to show my support, share my story, last year I managed to gather some momentum at work and had the biggest up take from colleagues at Dyer & Butler, including some board Directors, this year, we go again, but under a different name as we have rebranded to M Group Rail & Aviation, I would love for Gatwick to make the schedule of the July Run the Runways, equally I have Heathrow colleagues that would like that on the list. Fingers crossed for Gatwick as it’s shorter.
Looking forward to July and seeing some familiar faces pop up on my socials.
Oh, and don’t forget, We got this!
